Officer Garrett Fleming

Officer Garrett Fleming who, at the direction of Sgt. Tom Hinerman, investigated a Rape F-1. Through Officer Fleming's persistence and working with the Summit County Prosecutors office and Hinerman, Fleming was able to get a conviction on the defendant who pled guilty and received a 10-year sentence. Police Chief Roy Smith thanked Fleming for his professionalism, which he said is a reflection on the Lakemore Department. It shows that working together definitely has its benefits.

Chief Roy Smith holds the Bible for Officer Ron Gilbers's swearing in.

Council approved the hire of a full-time School Resource Officer, Ron Gilbert. When he is not at school he will serve as a patrol officer for the village. He was sworn in at the Aug. 1 council meeting.

Council members approved a contract with the Springfield Local School District to provide a school attendance officer. The district is paying for the officer and he or she will be responsible for handling the paperwork and the students not attending school. This is something Springfield Police have been doing but due to an overload of work, Lakemore will be helping out.
