These two lake communities had festivities, lights, music and more throughout the holiday season.   The Village of Lakemore held its Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony the Saturday after Thanksgiving. Santa arrived at the event on a fire truck and was greeted by a very excited and enthusiastic crowd that had endured the cold night air to see the jolly man in person. He waved his hand in a magical way that lit the huge tree located outside the Municipal Building. At the event there were horse drawn wagon rides, lots of cookies and hot cocoa and Santa listened to the wishes of all the children. Springfield Township also received a visit from the red suited man the first Friday in December.  Santa also waved his hands and lit the township tree located in the gazebo along the lake. With the lighting of the tree came the lighting of other animated decorations located along Canfield Road. The lights are beautiful as they reflect off the lake. There was music, snacks and a visit with Santa fo

The Annual Village Tree Lighting

Image
They say it "takes a village" and one village that sticks together in good and bad times is the Village of Lakemore! The village recently had its annual tree lighting. There was a good turn out as many came to participate.  The white bearded man even took some time off from making toys and checking his list twice to be on hand to visit with families and hear Christmas wishes.  There was hot cocoa, cookies, a bonfire and a horse and wagon ride around the village which was given through Sam and Ralph's adventures. It was a fun and festive ride that included some nice light displays and singing of Christmas Carols.  It was a fun night for all ages! Everyone is always welcome. The event is held each year on the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend. If you missed it this year...mark your calendar for next year. If you don't have a new calendar...there is still time to ask Santa for one.
